As the Manager of Legal Services & Corporation Secretary, you will serve as the cornerstone of PCK’s legal and governance framework. This dual-faceted role demands a strategic thinker who can seamlessly navigate corporate law, regulatory compliance, and board governance while driving the organization’s mission forward.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Legal Advisory & Compliance:
    • Provide expert legal counsel to the Board of Directors, executive leadership, and departmental heads on matters including corporate law, employment disputes, contract negotiations, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure adherence to the PCK Act, 1998, and other relevant legislation, mitigating risks and safeguarding the corporation’s interests.
    • Oversee litigation management, liaising with external counsel and representing PCK in legal proceedings.
  2. Corporate Governance:
    • Act as the Corporation Secretary, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for board operations.
    • Organize board meetings, prepare agendas, draft resolutions, and maintain accurate records of proceedings.
    • Advise the Board on governance best practices, ethical standards, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  3. Policy Development:
    • Lead the formulation and review of corporate policies, ensuring alignment with national laws and international standards.
    • Spearhead initiatives to enhance transparency, accountability, and stakeholder trust.
  4. Strategic Leadership:
    • Collaborate with the Postmaster General to align legal strategies with PCK’s corporate goals.
    • Mentor and manage the Legal Services team, fostering a culture of excellence and professional growth.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the primary liaison between PCK, government agencies, regulators, and external partners.
    • Promote PCK’s mandate in public forums, advocating for policies that advance accessible postal services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
  • Admission to the Kenyan Bar as an Advocate of the High Court with a valid practicing certificate.
  • A Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K) qualification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-admission experience, with at least 5 years in a senior legal or corporate governance role within a large organization.
  • Proven expertise in corporate law, compliance, and board secretarial functions.
  • Strong understanding of public sector operations and governance frameworks.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in the postal, logistics, or telecommunications sectors.
  • Familiarity with international legal standards and human rights principles.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and policy frameworks.
