Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Initiating, preparing, and monitoring the implementation of county and local physical and land use development plans.
- Providing advice on development applications and development control matters.
- Implementing and providing feedback on physical and land use planning guidelines and standards.
- Managing physical and land use data.
- Preparing action plans for specific projects such as residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates, and recreational facilities.
- Undertaking thematic regional studies on matters related to physical and land use planning.
- Preparing an annual state of physical planning report on county and local physical and land use development plans.
- Setting agenda and convening physical planning liaison committee meetings.
- Keeping records of deliberations and communicating decisions of the physical planning to relevant stakeholders.
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Town Planning, or an equivalent field from a recognized university in Kenya.
- Must be a registered physical planner with the Kenya Physical Planner’s Registration Board.
- Must be a corporate member of the Kenya Institute of Planners or the Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter).
- Must have relevant knowledge and experience of not less than six (6) years in the professional field.
- Completion of a Senior Management Course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
