Job Vacancy: Welder
As a Welder at Mater Misericordiae Hospital, you will be responsible for fabricating and repairing metal structures and components as per specifications, ensuring that all welding tasks meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate should be skilled in various welding techniques and committed to upholding the hospital’s high standards of workmanship and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Study and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
- Plan welding processes based on the design and material specifications.
- Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, and gas welding.
- Weld metal components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Cut, shape, and prepare metal pieces for welding using tools such as grinders, cutters, and drills.
- Clean and inspect metal surfaces to ensure proper welding conditions.
- Inspect welded joints to ensure accuracy, strength, and structural integrity.
- Identify and repair defects in welds, such as cracks or voids.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and welding codes.
- Maintain and repair welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Artisan Certificate in Welding and Fabrication.
- Crafts Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification in welding techniques is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Boilers, Steam Works, and Incinerators is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
