The National Crime Research Centre (NCRC) is a State Corporation established under the National Crime Research Act No. 4 of 1997. The Centre is mandated to conduct research on crime, its causes, and prevention while disseminating findings and recommendations to relevant agencies for policy planning and formulation.

The Centre is seeking to recruit highly competent, proactive, and self-driven individuals to fill the positions of Principal Research Officer (NCRC 4).

Position: Principal Research Officer (NCRC 4)
No. of Posts: Two (2)
Reporting to: Assistant Director, Crime Research

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and review policies, standards, procedures, and programs on crime research.
  • Ensure quality assurance of crime research processes and outputs.
  • Conduct capacity-building initiatives for researchers on quality research methodologies.
  • Coordinate and evaluate crime-related research and its impact on criminal justice administration.
  • Collate, analyze, and interpret crime-related data.
  • Undertake research into criminal activities, including crime causation, socio-political and economic drivers of criminal behavior, drug-related crimes, juvenile delinquency, and criminal modus operandi.
  • Study deviations within the criminal justice system to enhance community responsibility in offender rehabilitation.
  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of criminal investigation, prosecution agencies, penal systems, and offender treatment.
  • Prepare comprehensive crime research reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of research recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other research organizations engaged in similar or related fields.

The appointment shall be permanent and pensionable.

  • Certificate of Clearance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
  • Certificate of Clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
  • Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
  • Self-Declaration Clearance Form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
    (Ensure the form indicates Principal Research Officer as the applied position.)
