Reporting to: Manager, Inpatient/Outpatient Pharmacy
As a Pharmacist at M.P. Shah Hospital, you will be responsible for dispensing prescription drugs and ensuring patients fully understand their medication instructions as provided by specialists, consultants, and other healthcare practitioners. The ideal candidate should be passionate about patient care, possess strong clinical knowledge, and be committed to maintaining high pharmaceutical standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct Patient Care & Clinical Practice: Identify high-risk patients and implement interventions to improve quality and safety.
- Prescription Review: Assess prescriptions for potential risks and resolve issues before dispensing.
- Pharmaceutical Services: Dispense prescription medications across the hospital, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Pharmacy Operations & Medication Dispensing: Work closely with the procurement department to facilitate the acquisition, ordering, and distribution of specialty medications.
- Medication Delivery Coordination: Organize workflows for timely medication delivery across inpatient, outpatient, discharge, and satellite center patients.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal standards, acceptable timelines, and regulatory requirements set by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement improvements in the medication-use system to enhance patient safety, maximize therapeutic outcomes, and control costs.
- Patient Counseling: Provide clear guidance on medication regimens, ensuring patients understand the purpose, duration, special instructions, and potential side effects of their treatment.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
- Educational Background: Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
- Licensing & Registration: Must be a registered and valid member of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of working experience as a pharmacist.
