JAML is currently seeking a driven and visionary professional to fill the position of Business Development Manager (IFA Channel). This role is an exciting opportunity to lead, develop, and manage the Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) sales channel, ensuring sustained revenue growth and client satisfaction.
This position will report directly to the Head of Business Development and plays a central role in expanding JAML’s footprint in the financial services sector.

Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager (IFA Channel) will lead the development and execution of the sales and retention strategy for the IFA channel. The individual will be tasked with recruiting, developing, and managing a high-performing IFA network that aligns with JAML’s long-term strategic vision. This includes optimizing channel performance, driving revenue, enhancing client satisfaction, and representing JAML in key industry forums.
The ideal candidate will act as a strategic advisor to senior management, ensuring the IFA channel is both an engine of growth and a pillar of JAML’s market dominance.
Main Responsibilities
1. Strategic Function
- Collaborate with the Head of Business Development to craft and execute the IFA channel’s strategy, including annual budgets, business plans, and performance objectives.
- Design and implement innovative sales strategies that improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Create a visionary roadmap for the IFA channel that integrates market trends, client demands, and the company’s strategic direction.
- Accelerate revenue growth through the execution of impactful business development initiatives.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with clients by providing exceptional service and tailored financial solutions.
- Foster industry relationships and partnerships to elevate JAML’s visibility.
- Track performance metrics and risk exposure, making necessary adjustments to safeguard the channel’s profitability.
2. Business Growth & Development
- Identify new business opportunities within the IFA channel and align them with JAML’s strategic distribution goals.
- Conduct detailed market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and expansion prospects.
- Partner with the marketing team to develop impactful campaigns to attract IFAs and new clients.
- Drive client acquisition by developing and managing a strong prospect pipeline and delivering effective sales presentations.
- Negotiate contracts and close new business opportunities in collaboration with internal teams.
- Represent JAML at financial forums, industry events, and networking sessions to enhance brand recognition.
3. Operational Excellence
- Recruit, train, and manage a network of high-performing IFAs to ensure the channel operates effectively.
- Provide continuous performance feedback, training, and motivation to IFAs.
- Ensure achievement of revenue targets and policy persistence through proactive customer engagement strategies.
- Develop and execute training modules that improve IFAs’ understanding of investment products and strengthen their selling skills.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.
- Build and nurture long-lasting client relationships through excellent customer service and problem resolution.
- Use client feedback and market insights to refine service offerings and exceed customer expectations.
4. Brand Building and Representation
- Lead public relations and brand initiatives that enhance JAML’s corporate image.
- Serve as a brand ambassador within the IFA network, ensuring that JAML’s core values of integrity, innovation, and excellence are upheld.
- Champion initiatives that increase JAML’s presence and credibility in the market.
5. Corporate Governance and Compliance
- Stay informed about evolving industry regulations, compliance updates, and best practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to applicable laws and policies in the asset management sector.
- Establish internal controls to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging risks within the business environment, adapting strategies to minimize exposure.
6. People and Culture Development
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and productivity among IFAs.
- Drive team performance through coaching, mentorship, and regular performance assessments.
- Attract and retain top talent within the IFA network through a positive, client-centric work environment.
- Host regular team meetings and workshops to share insights, review strategies, and align team efforts with business goals.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, Sales, or a related field.
- Professional sales certifications; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Certifications such as CISI, CIFA, or CFA are highly desirable.
Relevant Experience
- A minimum of 6–8 years of experience in business development, sales, or channel management within the financial services or insurance industry.
- Proven ability to manage Independent Financial Advisors or equivalent distribution channels.
- In-depth understanding of the Kenyan financial services landscape, including regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in leading high-performing sales teams and executing strategic growth initiatives.
