Senior Manager – Business Development (International Money Transfers – IMT)

Job Overview

This is a senior leadership position responsible for driving business growth, spearheading strategic partnerships, and ensuring the success of cross-border financial operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding and optimizing the international money transfers network by acquiring, onboarding, and supporting new and existing partnerships. You will also ensure that all processes align with agile methodologies, regulatory compliance, and the organization’s overarching innovation agenda.

The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a high level of collaboration across departments and external partners to integrate and launch new IMT products, enhance current services, and ensure that our institution stays ahead of industry trends.


Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue and Market Growth
    • Drive revenue generation and increase market share within the IMT space.
    • Develop and implement growth strategies that align with overall business goals.
  • Partnership Onboarding and Management
    • Oversee onboarding processes for new IMT partnerships to ensure smooth integration.
    • Manage and grow relationships with strategic partners to maximize value and longevity.
  • Strategic Direction and Competitive Positioning
    • Conduct competitor analysis and market mapping to identify profitable services and pricing strategies.
    • Introduce new services that are market-driven and competitively positioned.
  • Agile Project Management
    • Lead key initiatives using agile project management methodologies.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and adaptive planning to bring initiatives to life quickly and effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Control
    • Identify and assess compliance risks associated with IMT partnerships.
    • Develop and monitor internal controls to ensure operations adhere to regulatory frameworks.
  • Market Intelligence and Insights
    • Conduct in-depth market research to better understand customer needs, remittance trends, and competitive landscapes.
    • Use insights to guide business strategy and product development.
  • Brand Awareness and Marketing Integration
    • Work with marketing teams to implement IMT brand awareness campaigns.
    • Align branding initiatives with business development goals to drive customer affinity and loyalty.
  • Product Enhancement and Lifecycle Management
    • Identify opportunities for product enhancements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement them.
    • Manage product life cycles to optimize customer experience and revenue contribution.
  • Partnership Prospecting
    • Actively prospect and qualify new sub-agents and IMT partners.
    • Develop strategic alliances that align with the institution’s long-term vision for cross-border financial services.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should demonstrate a well-rounded experience in international payments and related domains. The role demands a leader with a strong grasp of financial operations, relationship management, and product development within the cross-border money transfer space.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
  • 10 years of minimum experience in Cross Border Transfers / IMT or a closely related field
  • At least:
    • 4 years’ experience in Banking Operations
    • 6 years’ experience in Relationship Management
    • 6 years’ experience in Business Development
    • 4 years’ experience in Compliance

  • Professional Qualification in Project Management
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
