The County Government of Bomet is one of Kenya’s 47 devolved administrative units, established under the 2010 Constitution of Kenya to promote self-governance and bring public services closer to the people. Located in the Rift Valley region, Bomet County is known for its rich agricultural potential, scenic landscapes, and a vibrant community that thrives on entrepreneurship, innovation, and cultural diversity. With its headquarters in Bomet Town, the county serves as an essential hub for agribusiness, education, healthcare, and infrastructural development in the South Rift region.
Bomet County is governed through a devolved system that includes the executive arm, led by the Governor, and the legislative arm, represented by the County Assembly. This structure is designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and inclusive participation in governance, aligning development priorities with the specific needs of the local population. The county’s development agenda is rooted in its County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), which outlines key priorities in sectors such as health, agriculture, water and sanitation, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and trade.
The County Government of Bomet places a high value on public service excellence and community engagement. It is committed to promoting sustainable development, job creation, and equitable service delivery across all its five sub-counties: Bomet Central, Bomet East, Chepalungu, Sotik, and Konoin. Through strategic investments and partnerships, the county has made significant strides in enhancing access to healthcare, improving road networks, expanding educational opportunities, and supporting smallholder farmers with modern agricultural inputs and training.
