You will be a key player in aligning cloud infrastructure with both our organizational mission and technological advancement.
This role requires close collaboration with IT teams, program leads, DevOps engineers, and global stakeholders to ensure that our cloud platforms—primarily across AWS and Azure—are fit for purpose, future-ready, and ethically designed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Platform Strategy and Vision
- Evaluate and refine World Vision’s current cloud strategy to align with long-term organizational objectives.
- Drive platform evolution, focusing on balancing innovation, operational reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and assess emerging cloud technologies to enhance digital capabilities in humanitarian delivery.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and cloud innovation relevant to nonprofit operations.
2. Multi-Cloud Solution Architecture (AWS & Azure)
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud environments across AWS and Azure to support global mission operations.
- Develop solution blueprints, reference architectures, and technical standards for secure and scalable deployments.
- Lead design efforts for application modernization, cloud-native development, and data integration.
3. Cloud Integration and Implementation
- Oversee cloud project delivery, from discovery and planning to deployment and optimization.
- Integrate cloud solutions with internal enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP, and field technologies.
- Support and implement containerized workloads (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architecture.
4. Governance, Security, and Compliance
- Embed robust security principles in solution design, including encryption, IAM, VPC design, and segmentation.
- Ensure cloud platforms meet global data protection regulations like GDPR, HIPAA, and specific donor compliance.
- Lead strategies for disaster recovery, business continuity, and secure multi-region deployment.
5. Technical Leadership and Collaboration
- Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor for cross-functional teams in IT, programs, data, and field operations.
- Mentor junior cloud architects and engineers, and lead internal cloud architecture review boards.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, and automation.
6. Cloud Vendor and Cost Management
- Manage relationships with AWS, Azure, and other cloud vendors to ensure service optimization.
- Monitor and optimize cloud spending using tagging, rightsizing, and cost management strategies.
- Participate in vendor negotiations and ensure that service level agreements meet operational demands.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly preferred.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 7 years in the IT field, with at least 3 years in a cloud architecture or platform leadership role.
- Proven track record in deploying and managing workloads across AWS and Azure in a production environment.
- Strong expertise in networking, IAM, container orchestration, data services, and serverless technologies.
- Deep knowledge of DevOps practices, including infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), scripting (Python, PowerShell), and CI/CD integration.
- Experience implementing cloud governance, security frameworks, and compliance strategies.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, especially in multicultural and global environments.
Preferred Experience
- Previous work in mission-driven or nonprofit organizations is an advantage.
- Experience supporting field operations in remote or low-resource environments.
- Familiarity with mobile data collection tools and field system integrations.
