Now Hiring: Finance Intern – Bookkeeping and Accounting

Position Overview

The Finance Intern will support the daily operations of Samaking’s finance and accounting department. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills in financial management while contributing to a growing social enterprise with tangible community impact.


Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping & Transaction Recording

  • Record daily financial transactions such as sales, purchases, and expenses.
  • Reconcile accounts across cash, mobile money, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Match mobile payments with respective sales records to ensure transparency and accuracy.

2. Retail Financial Support

  • Track the costs of consumables and logistics related to shop operations.
  • Assist in daily reconciliations of retail sales, purchases, and operational expenses.

3. Accounts Receivable & Payable

  • Help manage and track payables related to fish purchases from farmers and suppliers.
  • Assist in the generation and dispatch of invoices for B2B clients.
  • Support follow-up and collection of outstanding receivables.

4. Payroll Assistance

  • Gather employee data for payroll preparation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of payroll records.

5. Financial Reporting

  • Assist in creating weekly and monthly financial reports and dashboards.
  • Contribute to tracking cash flows and reporting on budget-to-actual performance.

6. Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure all financial activities adhere to internal control standards.
  • Help organize and archive financial documents for audits and investor due diligence.

7. Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with the CEO and finance team to assess and refine financial workflows.
  • Propose and implement practical solutions to improve process efficiency and accuracy.

8. Procurement Support

  • Assist in managing vendor relationships, purchase orders, and inventory delivery tracking.
  • Maintain detailed records of procurement processes, approvals, invoices, and payments.
