Position Title: Assistant Mortician II

Job Grade: AU 4


Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants interested in this position must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Relevant Work Experience:
    A cumulative minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in a mortuary setting. The candidate should demonstrate hands-on experience and a strong understanding of mortuary operations, body handling, and related services.
  2. Academic and Professional Qualifications:
    A certificate in mortuary science, mortuary practice, or a related area of specialization lasting at least one (1) year from a recognized and accredited institution or examination body. This qualification should reflect competence in the technical and practical aspects of the role.
  3. Computer Proficiency:
    Applicants must be proficient in basic computer applications. Competence in software commonly used in mortuary records management and documentation will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities attached to this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Body Handling and Preservation:
    Receiving, preparing, preserving, and dispatching bodies in accordance with established procedures and ethical standards.
  2. Documentation Support:
    Assisting in the documentation processes including proper tagging, labeling, and record-keeping related to the deceased, postmortem reports, and other relevant data.
  3. Facility Hygiene and Equipment Maintenance:
    Ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation within the mortuary facilities and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will also assist in basic maintenance of mortuary equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  4. Postmortem Assistance:
    Providing assistance during postmortem examinations when required, ensuring adherence to safety and ethical guidelines.
