Established in 1946, CHAK serves as a technical support organization for church-based health facilities and training institutions, offering coordination, advocacy, and professional development in the health sector. Currently, CHAK is inviting applications for two positions: ICT Officer (based at the CHAK Secretariat in Nairobi) and Head Chef (based at CHAK Guest House & Conference Centre). These positions call for individuals with proven expertise, professionalism, and dedication to service excellence.

The facility provides accommodation, restaurant, and conference services to CHAK, as well as to individual and corporate clients. Job Purpose
The Head Chef will oversee the entire kitchen operation, ensuring that all food and beverage services meet the highest quality and presentation standards. The position involves menu planning, staff supervision, cost control, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
The Head Chef is responsible for maintaining an efficient, creative, and motivated kitchen team while achieving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Menu Creation and Development: Design and execute creative, nutritious, and cost-effective menus that align with customer preferences and organizational cost guidelines.
- Kitchen Operations Management: Oversee daily kitchen functions, ensuring smooth service delivery. Monitor food preparation and presentation for consistency and excellence.
- Staff Management and Training: Supervise, mentor, and train kitchen personnel to ensure professional development and teamwork. Create staff schedules, manage off-days, and oversee performance evaluations to maintain a motivated workforce.
- Inventory and Cost Control: Manage food inventory levels, ensuring high-quality supplies, proper storage, and minimal wastage. Maintain updated inventory records and ensure food cost targets are achieved through efficient procurement and portion control.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with food safety standards and local authority regulations. Promote and maintain strict hygiene practices in food preparation and storage areas.
- Guest Experience: Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation exceed guest expectations. Address feedback and concerns related to food service promptly and professionally.
- Collaboration: Work closely with service, sales, and management teams to improve guest experiences, create promotional events, and contribute to budgeting and operational strategies.
- Other Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by management in support of the Guest House’s mission and objectives.
Required Experience
- Diploma in Culinary Arts from a recognized hospitality training institution.
- A degree in Hospitality Management will be an added advantage.
- At least eight years of professional kitchen experience, with three years in a supervisory or leadership role such as Sous Chef or higher.
