ICC Kenya is an affiliate of The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)- Paris, the world’s largest business organization representing 45 million companies from all sectors and company sizes in over 170 countries. Its main objective is to promote international trade, responsible business conduct, and a global approach to regulation. As the largest business organization in the world, the ICC works closely with key international business organizations and governments including the World Trade Organization (WTO), on issues affecting international trade. It is also the only private sector organization with an Observer Status at the United Nations’ General Assembly.

ICC Kenya is seeking a highly motivated and creative Business Development Services (BDS) Intern to support program implementation, proposal development, partnership engagement, and resource mobilization efforts, and support the ICC Kenya team in achieving its strategic goals.

Objective

The BDS Intern will provide technical and administrative support to the ICC Kenya team, with a strong focus on developing funding proposals, identifying partnership opportunities, and contributing to the design and delivery of ICC Kenya support initiatives. The intern will also assist in stakeholder engagement and documentation of program outcomes.

Responsibilities

1. Proposal Development & Resource Mobilization

  • Support the development (drafting and editing) of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications.
  • Research potential funding opportunities, donor priorities, calls for proposals, and partnership prospects.
  • Assist in compiling data, case studies, and success stories to strengthen proposals and donor reports.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to enhance ICC Kenya fundraising strategies and donor engagement.

2. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Assist in identifying and mapping potential partners, including donors, private sector actors, and development agencies.
  • Support the coordination of partnership meetings, events, and follow-ups.
  • Draft partnership briefs, meeting notes, and stakeholder engagement reports.

3. Program Implementation Support

  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation ICC Kenya training, mentorship, and networking activities.
  • Support the documentation of success stories and lessons learned.
  • Monitor and document ICC Kenya participation, feedback, and outcomes from program activities.

4. Communication & Documentation

  • Draft reports, presentations, and communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Support the development of knowledge products, insight papers, etc.
  • Maintain organized records of proposals, program documents, and partner documentation.

5. Administrative & Logistical Support

  • Assist in organizing meetings, events, and field visits.
  • Provide general administrative support assigned by the ICC Kenya Team

Qualifications

The selected candidate should have the following qualifications:

A recent graduate (within the last 2 years) with a degree in Business Development, Economics, Development Studies, Project Management, Communications, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in proposal writing, fundraising, or business development, preferably in a development or private sector context.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in problem-solving or project design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with tools like Canva, Google Workspace, or CRM systems is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
