The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nairobi is currently looking for a – Desk Clerk for Economic Cooperation – (male/female) starting from July 2026.
Your Tasks:
- Project management and main contact for the portfolio “health and water/waster water” as well as the embassy’s small-project funds
- Embassycontact of the volunteer’s program “Weltwärts”
- Research, Analysis and Reporting on political economic and sector-specific developments in Kenya (e.g. climate/energy, rural development/agriculture, private sector development, TVET, migration, governance)
- Close cooperation with developmental agencies, such as GIZ, KfW, DEG, German and Kenyan NGOs as well as multilateral organizations (UN, WB; AfdB, EU)
- Preparation of and/or attendance at higher ranking conferences, diplomatic delegations, governmental consultations/negotiations
- Official communication with Kenyan authorities and government
- Direct assistance to the membersof the department for development cooperation at the embassy (e.g. Information gathering and presentation, preparation of welcome messages or short speeches, simple translations (Swahili))
Your Profile
- Completed university degree (Ba./Ma.) in development studies or a related field
- Familiarity with the Kenyan political and economic system as well as the development cooperation ecosystem in Kenya.
- You are a team player with high intercultural competence.
- You master MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- You have excellent organizational and management skills.
- Prior work-experience in a development organization and/or in a diplomatic mis-sion is highly beneficial
Language Skills
- Fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken
- Very good command of German (Level B2)
