About the Position

The Graduate Assistant in Music Composition will support the department in delivering quality teaching, research, and creative music activities. Key Responsibilities

The Graduate Assistant in Music Composition will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in teaching and mentoring students in music composition, music theory, arrangement, and creative music practice.
  • Supporting composition projects by creating, arranging, editing, and reviewing musical works.
  • Assisting in conducting research and creative activities in music composition and related disciplines.
  • Participating in departmental activities including performances, workshops, concerts, examinations, and academic programs.
  • Maintaining and supporting music resources including musical scores, recordings, music software, instruments, and learning materials.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor in Music or a related program.
  • Skills in composition, music arrangement, orchestration, music theory, notation software, and digital music production.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in music composition, teaching assistance, research, or creative music practice.
  • Membership in, or eligibility for membership in, recognized music bodies such as MCSK, KAMP, or another relevant professional association.
  • A comprehensive portfolio of original compositions demonstrating creative work.
