1. ICT Risk Officer

The Co-operative Bank ICT Risk and Control Team is seeking a competent and highly motivated Information Security professional to join the organization as an ICT Risk Officer.

Reporting to the Head – ICT Risk and Control, the successful candidate will provide continuous independent assurance on the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Bank’s ICT systems. The role focuses on ensuring appropriate information security controls are implemented and maintained while ensuring ICT-related risks comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, applicable laws, and international standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out ICT risk assessments on the Bank’s systems and recommending appropriate information security controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving ICT controls across the Bank.
  • Reviewing servers, applications, databases, network devices, and other ICT infrastructure to identify security risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Providing continuous assurance on ICT risks affecting the Bank’s systems.
  • Evaluating ICT controls across operating systems, applications, database management systems, interfaces, and networks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and applicable standards.
  • Promoting information security awareness throughout the Bank by providing guidance, consultations, and conducting awareness programs.
  • Identifying emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities and working closely with the ICT department to implement effective mitigation measures.
  • Managing ICT risk registers.
  • Performing regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on Bank systems and technologies.
  • Identifying system vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate remediation measures.

Skills, Competencies and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Security or Computer Science.
  • Relevant IT Security professional qualifications such as CISA, CISM, CEH or other relevant security certifications.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working experience in a similar role within a highly computerized environment.
  • Experience implementing Information Security Standards such as ISO 27001 and COBIT.
  • Understanding of ICT risk management and systems security control processes.
  • Understanding of Information Systems Architecture and operational practices.
  • Appreciation of audit methodologies.

2. Employee Relations Manager

Co-operative Bank is seeking to strengthen its Human Resources function by recruiting an experienced Employee Relations Manager.

Reporting to the Head, Employee Relations & Welfare, the successful candidate will help develop and maintain a productive working environment while providing expert guidance on employee relations matters. The position supports compliance with employment legislation, labour laws, Bank policies, and best HR practices while promoting staff welfare and positive workplace relations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with team leaders to ensure consistency in disciplinary procedures across the Bank.
  • Reviewing reported disciplinary cases and advising on appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Studying investigation and audit reports and taking the necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Communicating disciplinary decisions to line managers and ensuring implementation.
  • Investigating and responding to disciplinary queries raised by the Union and line managers.
  • Organizing and constituting disciplinary hearing panels.
  • Coordinating litigation matters involving former employees in liaison with the Bank’s advocates.
  • Representing the Bank in the Industrial Court as required.
  • Supporting Bank subsidiaries in handling disciplinary matters.
  • Providing expert advice to line managers on legal implications of disciplinary actions under labour laws.
  • Serving as the Bank’s centre of expertise on employee relations matters.
  • Seeking stakeholder support for the Bank’s employee relations strategy.
  • Monitoring changes in labour laws and keeping managers informed.
  • Undertaking consultations and negotiations with the Union.
  • Representing the Bank during Ministry of Labour conciliation meetings.
  • Liaising with the Kenya Bankers Association and Kenya Institute of Bankers on employment-related matters.
  • Ensuring HR policies remain aligned with labour laws.
  • Participating in Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations with the Union.
  • Ensuring the Bank adheres to labour laws and promotes best labour practices.

Skills, Competencies and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Law (LLB) from a recognized university with over five (5) years demonstrable HR experience in a busy environment.
  • A Higher Diploma in Human Resources with I/CHRM or other professional body membership.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Kenyan Labour Laws with practical employee relations experience.
  • Good understanding of the internal and external industrial relations environment together with the Bank’s disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of Human Resource policies, processes, and strategies.

3. Tele-Collector – MSME Collections

Reporting to the Team Leader – Tele Collections, the successful candidate will proactively engage customers within the early arrears portfolio through structured outbound calling, payment follow-up, and customer engagement. The role aims to improve collections, encourage repayment discipline, identify early warning signs of financial distress, and prevent accounts from progressing into higher delinquency categories.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting outbound calls to customers with overdue facilities.
  • Securing payment commitments and following up to ensure payments are honoured.
  • Engaging customers professionally using approved collection scripts and guidelines.
  • Maintaining regular communication with customers within the assigned portfolio.
  • Managing allocated accounts and ensuring they remain within early arrears categories.
  • Prioritizing customers requiring immediate intervention.
  • Escalating complex or high-risk cases to the Team Leader.
  • Promoting customer enrolment onto Settlement Instructions and other approved repayment solutions.
  • Supporting initiatives that improve customer repayment behaviour.
  • Educating customers on available repayment options.
  • Identifying and reporting signs of customer financial distress, including:
    • Reduced business activity
    • Cash flow challenges
    • Business closure or relocation
    • Diversion of business proceeds
    • Repeated broken payment commitments
  • Maintaining accurate records in E-Collect and other designated systems.
  • Recording all customer interactions, commitments, and outcomes.
  • Supporting portfolio quality improvement initiatives.
  • Escalating cases requiring field visits, restructuring, legal action, or other recovery interventions.

Skills, Competencies and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least one (1) year experience in tele-collections, debt collections, or a related field.
  • Experience in financial services or debt collection will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in customer engagement and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of lending and collection processes.
  • Report writing and documentation skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
