Job Purpose
The Consultant Clinical Pathologist will provide expert clinical pathology services and offer technical, operational, and administrative support within the pathology department. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering the department’s growth and research agenda.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Clinical Services
- Perform clinical-related duties within the scope of clinical pathology, including conducting hematology clinics and procedures.
2. Strategy, Policy, and Process Implementation
- Provide clinical leadership and direction in developing and implementing pathology and laboratory strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and contribute to the sustainable growth of the pathology department.
3. Research and Development
- Advance the hospital’s research agenda by developing clinician scientists within interdisciplinary thematic areas.
- Create an environment that encourages all staff to engage in research initiatives.
4. Patient-Centered Care and Growth
- Foster the growth of patient volumes in line with annual budgets.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-sensitive care that meets or exceeds patient expectations.
5. Service Expansion and Financial Sustainability
- Lead the development of new services and initiatives that enhance the hospital’s financial sustainability.
6. Clinical Quality Management
- Develop and apply clinical quality management methods, including practice guidelines and audits, within the department.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders to stimulate patient referrals to AAR hospital-based physicians.
8. Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Work with colleagues across AAR Hospital to maximize collaboration and ensure efficient, cost-effective service delivery.
9. Resource Management
- Ensure the productive and cost-effective utilization of human, material, and capital resources entrusted to the department.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Master of Medicine or equivalent qualification in Clinical Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar position after specialist recognition.
