1.Research Sciences Resident (AI for Good) Intern
The AI for Good Research Lab uses AI and data to address some of the greatest challenges facing humanity. We are headquartered in Redmond, WA, and have an office in Nairobi, Kenya. We work on issues that will improve societies and environments with a focus on food and water security, disaster response and early warning, biodiversity and conservation. Our technical specialties are in areas as diverse as geospatial imagery, computer vision, bioacoustics, and language models. If you have experience in large language models, computer vision, statistics, and artificial intelligence, you have a fantastic opportunity to join the AI for Good team that is led by Microsoft’s Chief Data Scientist.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
· Must have at least 2 years of experience with modeling in Python.
· Must have at least 2 years of experience with deep learning models.
Preffered Requirements:
Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, particularly computer vision models.

2. Product Management Intern (AI for Good Research Lab)
The Microsoft AI for Good Research Lab leverages the power of data, our cloud technology, data science talent, and the Microsoft brand to catalyze and inspire others to partner in solving the world’s greatest challenges. Over the past four years, AI for Good Lab has become a data and AI driven solution creator, storyteller, and trusted advisor working closely with leaders across Microsoft, academia, NGOs, and all levels of government. Our mission is to be one of the top applied research and data visualization labs driving positive change in the world, inspiring and serving as a blueprint for others.
We are seeking a strong Product Manager who thinks strategically, works pragmatically in a dynamic environment, and is highly inclusive with a deep growth mindset. In this position you will drive results in one or more of our strategic pillars: Sustainability, Population Health, Disaster Response and Resiliency, Trust, Fundamental Human Rights, and the AI for Good Lab Azure Grant program.
This role is directly responsible for developing and prioritizing projects that demonstrate positive change and impact, ensuring insights are prepared and shared programmatically through data-driven storytelling, and establishing and growing cross-disciplinary partnerships across Microsoft and external experts and organizations to scale the speed and size of success. In addition to driving results for our key initiatives, you will directly contribute to creating a global team by modeling Product Management in AI excellence that embodies our values and culture.

Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Recent Graduate Student or Graduate Student in an engineering, data science, or social science university program with quantitative analysis (e.g. Economics, Sociology, Public Policy).
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within an academic and/or NGO organization OR an history of volunteering.
- Experience in analyzing or delivering science-related published research.
- Experience in software or data product management, leading teams to create or develop code-based solutions for internal or external opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Research Scientists, Data Scientists, Architects, and Experts in diverse fields to define and influence strategy to drive impact for one or more key initiative areas. Communicate strategy to internal and external partners to build consensus through multiple methods.
- Own and/or partner in driving impact and tracking success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs], Key Performance Indicators [KPIs]). You will determine the value of the project, align success criteria, and measure success.
- Identify data-informed, short-term, and long-term investment opportunities, evaluate tradeoffs, and prioritize investments in consultation with cross-functional partners. Determine the projects and features to prioritize in the roadmap that will support achievement of success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Evangelize the work with internal and external stakeholders and partners through presentations, papers, blog posts, social media, and other forums. Present at small and large events. Act as a primary interface with Public Relations, internal and external partners to develop the messaging framework.
