Job Description
The Consultant Neurologist will play a key role in delivering high-quality neurology services to both outpatients and inpatients. This role is vital in ensuring the continued excellence and expansion of neurological services at Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu and its outreach centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive neurology services to patients, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Perform and supervise neurology diagnostic procedures, including lumbar puncture and direct fundoscopy.
- Conduct and interpret nerve conduction studies (NCS) and needle electromyography (EMG).
- Interpret evoked potentials, EEG (electroencephalogram) recordings, including prolonged video EEG monitoring.
- Demonstrate proficiency in polysomnography interpretation skills.
- Provide preliminary interpretations of neuroimaging scans for common neurological conditions, particularly in emergency situations.
- Lead efforts to enhance and expand Neurology services within the hospital and its outreach centers.
- Engage in the teaching and mentorship of junior doctors, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
Requirements
- Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from a recognized university.
- Fellowship in Neurology with a focus and expertise in comprehensive modern epilepsy management.
- The successful candidate will be expected to lead neurology services and actively engage in collaborative research.
