STUDENT ATTACHMENT OPPORTUNITIES (APRIL – JUNE 2025)
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is the regulatory agency for the ICT industry in Kenya, with key responsibilities in telecommunications, cyber security, e-commerce, broadcasting, multimedia, and postal/courier services. The Authority is also responsible for managing the country’s numbering and frequency spectrum resources, administering the Universal Service Fund (USF), and ensuring consumer protection in the ICT sector.
As part of our commitment to nurturing young professionals and providing valuable industry experience, we are inviting applications from ongoing university students for a three-month attachment program in the following departments:
ATTACHMENT OPPORTUNITIES BY DEPARTMENT
1. Human Resources and Administration
Responsibilities:
- Assist in HR administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records and updating databases.
- Support recruitment processes, including document verification and interview coordination.
- Participate in employee welfare programs and performance management initiatives.
- Assist in policy development and compliance monitoring.
2. Corporate Communications
Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials.
- Support media monitoring and analysis of public relations activities.
- Help manage the organization’s social media and digital presence.
- Coordinate internal and external communication efforts.
3. Finance & Accounts
Responsibilities:
- Assist in processing financial transactions and preparing reports.
- Support budget tracking and financial reconciliation.
- Assist in audits and compliance with financial policies.
- Perform general accounting duties under supervision.
4. Supply Chain Management
Responsibilities:
- Assist in procurement documentation and order processing.
- Support supplier and contract management.
- Participate in inventory tracking and stock management.
- Ensure compliance with procurement regulations.
5. Frequency and Spectrum Management
Responsibilities:
- Assist in radio frequency spectrum monitoring and analysis.
- Support technical documentation and licensing procedures.
- Participate in research on frequency allocation and emerging trends.
6. Compliance Enforcement
Responsibilities:
- Support enforcement of regulatory compliance in telecommunications.
- Assist in analyzing compliance reports and data collection.
- Participate in inspections and audits of telecommunications infrastructure.
7. Monitoring, Inspection and Regional Coordination
Responsibilities:
- Assist in field inspections of telecommunication networks.
- Support regional regulatory functions and coordination.
- Conduct data collection and reporting on ICT service quality.
8. Postal and Telecom Licensing
Responsibilities:
- Assist in processing applications for telecom and postal licenses.
- Support licensing database management.
- Conduct research on industry regulations and compliance trends.
9. Information Technology
Responsibilities:
- Provide IT support for office operations.
- Assist in software development and testing.
- Support system maintenance and cybersecurity initiatives.
- Help troubleshoot IT-related issues.
10. Cyber Security
Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
- Support the implementation of security protocols and incident response.
- Participate in cybersecurity awareness campaigns and training.
11. Consumer Protection and Advocacy
Responsibilities:
- Support consumer complaint handling and resolution.
- Assist in consumer education and awareness initiatives.
- Participate in policy analysis related to consumer rights in ICT.
12. Public Education and Awareness
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and executing public awareness campaigns.
- Support media engagement and outreach programs.
- Help develop educational materials on ICT regulations.
13. Standard and Type Approval
Responsibilities:
- Assist in testing and certification of ICT devices.
- Support compliance checks for telecommunications equipment.
- Participate in documentation and regulatory reporting.
14. Universal Service Fund
Responsibilities:
- Support data collection and analysis on ICT development projects.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of funded projects.
- Participate in community outreach and impact assessment activities.
15. Research, Planning, and Quality Management
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on ICT trends and regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in statistical data collection and analysis.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and reporting.
16. Competition Management
Responsibilities:
- Assist in analyzing market trends and regulatory compliance.
- Support investigations into anti-competitive behavior in the ICT sector.
- Conduct research on global best practices in competition management.
17. Legal Services
Responsibilities:
- Assist in legal research and drafting of legal documents.
- Support compliance audits and contract reviews.
- Participate in policy development and regulatory analysis.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Applicants must be ongoing students enrolled in a recognized university.
- The area of study must align with the department applied for.
- Applicants should express a keen interest in gaining practical experience in a dynamic regulatory environment.
