Job Description
As a Legal Intern, you will contribute to the day-to-day work of the Legal Affairs Unit under the supervision of experienced legal officers. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research on issues related to international law, environmental agreements, and institutional mandates.
- Assisting in drafting legal documents, memoranda, background papers, and briefs.
- Supporting the review and analysis of treaties, agreements, and contracts relevant to UNEP’s operations.
- Helping prepare materials for legal workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
- Assisting in the organization of meetings, conferences, and negotiations, including drafting reports and summaries.
- Providing support in handling correspondence and ensuring accuracy in legal documentation.
- Collaborating with legal officers to ensure compliance with UN rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Performing other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall objectives of UNEP’s Legal Affairs Unit.
