The Principal Internal Auditor role is positioned within the Group Internal Audit function, which provides independent and objective assurance services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. The department’s primary mandate is to assess and enhance the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes across all business areas.
Job Description:
The Principal Internal Auditor will be responsible for leading and executing complex audit assignments, providing insights that strengthen the control environment, and promoting operational efficiency. The role involves working with various departments to identify risks, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and manage audit engagements in accordance with the annual audit plan and professional auditing standards.
- Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes within assigned areas.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify high-risk areas and prioritize audit activities accordingly.
- Develop audit programs, work papers, and reports that clearly communicate audit findings, implications, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management to ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations and monitor progress on corrective measures.
- Provide advisory services on risk and control issues during the development of new systems, processes, or products.
- Evaluate the organization’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Present audit findings to senior management and the audit committee in a clear and concise manner.
- Promote a culture of ethical conduct, risk awareness, and internal control compliance throughout the organization.
- Support continuous improvement of the internal audit methodology, tools, and processes.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior auditors to enhance team capability and professional growth.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure coordination and alignment of audit activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive company information.
