Kimisitu is seeking a visionary and resultsdriven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead
the organisation towards achieving its strategic
objectives.
- ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as
the principal executive leader, mandated to
provide strategic direction and oversight that
ensures Kimisitu DT SACCO’s sustained
growth and financial stability while vigorously
protecting member value. This critical role is
accountable for driving the implementation
of the SACCO’s strategic objectives,
ensuring strict adherence to all regulatory
and governance standards set by SASRA
(Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority), and
fostering an organizational culture focused
on operational excellence and long-term
sustainability. - KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Leadership: Direct the
execution of the SACCO’s approved
strategy and serve as the principal advisor
to the Board on governance, policy, and
annual performance planning. - Fiduciary Management & Compliance:
Ensure strict regulatory compliance
(SASRA) while managing the SACCO’s
financial resources, overseeing investment
undertakings for optimal returns, and
safeguarding institutional assets. - Risk & Control: Establish and
rigorously enforce robust governance,
risk management, and internal control
frameworks across the entire organization. - Operational Excellence: Champion
innovation and digital transformation
initiatives to drive operational efficiency,
service excellence, and organizational
competitiveness. - Talent & Culture: Maximize
organizational productivity by leading
HR management and cultivating a highperformance, ethical culture aligned with
the SACCO’s core values. - Stakeholder Engagement: Build and
maintain strategic partnerships with
regulators, financiers, the corporate
sector, and other key stakeholders to
protect the SACCO’s brand and facilitate
growth.
- KEY QUALIFICATIONS &
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience
at senior management level, with at
least five (5) years as a CEO, Managing
Director, or equivalent, preferably within the
cooperative or financial services sector. - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance,
Marketing, or a related field with a Master’s
degree in Business Administration,
Strategic Management, or a related
discipline from a recognised institution. - Professional qualification such as CPA(K),
ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CPS(K), or an
equivalent professional qualification from a
recognised institution. - Membership in a relevant professional
body is desirable. - Demonstrated track record in driving
institutional growth, financial sustainability,
governance strengthening, and
performance improvement. - Proven experience overseeing financial
management, investments, and
internal control systems in a regulated
environment. - Strong corporate governance capability
and proven experience working with
Boards.
- KEY COMPETENCIES
- Strategic and visionary leadership with
strong commercial acumen. - Strong knowledge of the SACCO business
model and the regulatory framework
governing deposit-taking SACCOs. - Sound understanding of SASRA
regulations and prudential guidelines. - High integrity, ethical judgment, and
commitment to transparency and
accountability. - Results-driven with excellent analytical,
problem-solving, and decision-making
skills. - Effective communicator with strong
interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation
skills. - Proven ability to lead change,
transformation, and performance
improvement initiatives.
