Pharmaceutical Laboratory Technician

Pharmaceutical Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. This role requires a strong commitment to educating Bachelor of Pharmacy students, actively participating in research activities, and providing expertise in pharmaceutical sciences to enrich the learning experience and advance the field of pharmacy. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to world-class research that enhances practice and serves both the university and the community.

Key Responsibilities

This role requires a strong commitment to educating Bachelor of Pharmacy students, actively participating in administering laboratory practicals in educating pharmacy students and assisting in research activities. The successful candidate will support the laboratory team in conducting laboratory practicals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Diploma in Pharmacy
  • Demonstrable abilities to work effectively as an interdisciplinary and collegial team member, well-developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide leadership and take the initiative.

Characteristic Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality practical sessions in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Guide students in academic projects and research.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional activities to uphold academic excellence.
  • Engage in professional development and stay updated with advancements in the pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses on pharmaceutical products
  • Prepare samples for analysis
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Keep records accurately and systematically
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and cleanliness standards in the laboratory
  • Assist in the formulation and development of new pharmaceutical products
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, data summary documents, and test procedures
