Job Description

The Graduate Assistant in Music Composition will support the department in delivering quality teaching, research, and creative activities. The role involves assisting academic staff in music composition instruction while contributing to departmental programs, performances, and student development.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in teaching and mentoring students in music composition, music theory, arrangement, and creative music practice.
  • Supporting music composition projects through creating, arranging, editing, and reviewing musical works.
  • Assisting in conducting research and creative activities in music composition and related disciplines.
  • Participating in departmental activities including performances, workshops, concerts, examinations, and academic programs.
  • Maintaining and supporting music resources such as musical scores, recordings, notation software, instruments, and other learning materials.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor in Music or a related program.
  • Skills in composition, music arrangement, orchestration, music theory, notation software, and digital music production.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in music composition, teaching assistance, research, or creative music practice.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in recognized music bodies such as MCSK, KAMP, or another relevant professional association.
  • A comprehensive portfolio of original compositions demonstrating creative work.
