Role Summary
The Programmer will provide essential technical support for the development and maintenance of the C3-EWS system. This role includes assisting in designing, developing, and optimising the Community-Centric Climate Early Warning System (C3-EWS), ensuring its functionality, scalability, and user-centred design. The programmer will integrate diverse data sources, create algorithms, and build user-friendly dashboards to deliver timely and actionable climate hazard warnings.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in coding, debugging, and testing software components for the C3-EWS system.
2. Support the integration of external data sources into the system’s architecture.
3. Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, ensuring minimal disruptions to operations.
4. Maintain and update IT infrastructure, including servers, databases, and network systems.
5. Conduct routine system tests to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
6. Collaborate with the Senior Developer to implement technical solutions for complex challenges.
7. Ensure robust backup and recovery processes are in place to safeguard project data.
8. Train team members on the use of Programming systems, enhancing overall efficiency.
9. Monitor system performance and implement improvements as needed.
10. Ensure seamless integration all data inputs.
11. Develop and refine algorithms for early warning signals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
12. Create user-friendly dashboards for stakeholders to interpret and act on the data effectively.
13. Build tools for tracking system performance metrics like alert timeliness, reach, and accuracy.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
● Proven experience in programming and IT support roles, with proficiency in relevant tools and languages.
● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
