Duties and Responsibilities

As an Animal Health Assistant II, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting in demonstrating milking techniques and parasite control methods such as dipping, spraying, and dusting.
  2. Conducting vaccination, closed castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking, and hoof trimming.
  3. Providing simple treatment for animals.
  4. Participating in disease search, identification, and reporting.
  5. Undertaking artificial insemination and meat inspection.
  6. Enforcing slaughterhouse hygiene and meat transportation regulations.

This role plays a vital part in enhancing the health and productivity of livestock in Baringo County while ensuring compliance with hygiene and health standards in slaughterhouses and meat transport.


Requirements for Appointment

To qualify for the position of Animal Health Assistant II, you must:

  1. Be a Kenyan Citizen.
  2. Hold a two-year certificate in any of the following disciplines:
    • Animal Health (with Meat Inspection Certification)
    • Environmental Health and Production
    • Or equivalent and relevant qualifications from a recognized institution.
  3. Be proficient in computer applications.
