About the Role: Senior Officer, Data Protection
As the Senior Officer, Data Protection, you will be responsible for ensuring that M-Pesa Africa maintains the highest standards of data protection and privacy. You will lead compliance programs, ensure privacy by design in product development, and proactively manage risks related to data protection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and provide expert guidance on data governance, processing activities, and potential data breaches.
- Monitor compliance with national and international data protection laws across M-Pesa Africa’s markets.
- Implement policies and guidelines to establish and maintain compliance with data protection regulations.
- Foster a strong culture of data protection through training and awareness programs for stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive records of M-Pesa Africa’s data processing activities.
- Provide expert advice on conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk compliance reviews.
- Oversee data management procedures and ensure adherence to privacy regulations.
- Offer insights and strategies for integrating privacy by design and privacy by default in products and systems.
- Ensure compliance and privacy principles are embedded within the SAFE Agile product implementation framework.
- Implement Data Protection and Compliance Policies across the organization.
- Coordinate data protection and compliance awareness training for employees.
- Conduct regular monitoring and assurance activities to assess compliance effectiveness.
- Prepare quarterly reports on M-Pesa Africa’s privacy program and overall compliance status.
- Collaborate with Data Protection and Compliance Champions to cultivate a strong culture of regulatory adherence.
- Drive behavioral change by influencing stakeholders and promoting a culture of compliance within the organization.
