11 Vacancies Open At The Judicial Service Commission (JSC)

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of Kenya is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. Its primary role is to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary while ensuring the efficient, effective, and transparent administration of justice. As part of its mandate, the Commission is inviting applications from qualified individuals to fill several key positions within the Judiciary.

The available positions include roles within the Sports Disputes Tribunal, the Tax Appeals Tribunal, and a senior management role in the Judiciary’s supply chain department. These roles are an excellent opportunity for professionals with relevant expertise to contribute to the legal and judicial landscape of Kenya.

Available Positions

The following positions are open for applications:

  1. Member, Sports Disputes Tribunal (Advocate) – Two (2) Posts
    • Serve as a tribunal member in resolving disputes related to sports in Kenya.
    • Hear and determine cases concerning sports governance, athlete contracts, disciplinary matters, and doping violations.
    • Ensure that all decisions align with the applicable sports laws, policies, and international best practices.
    • Work in collaboration with other tribunal members to ensure impartial and fair dispute resolution.
    • Engage with relevant stakeholders in the sports sector to enhance the effectiveness of the tribunal.
  2. Member, Sports Disputes Tribunal (Non-Advocate) – Four (4) Posts
    • Contribute to tribunal proceedings by bringing expertise in sports management, finance, medicine, or any relevant discipline.
    • Assist in the resolution of disputes involving athletes, sports federations, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide insights on best practices and standards in sports administration.
    • Participate in the decision-making process on tribunal matters.
    • Collaborate with tribunal members to maintain an independent and transparent adjudication process.
  3. Member, Tax Appeals Tribunal (Advocate) – One (1) Post
    • Hear and determine tax-related appeals filed before the tribunal.
    • Ensure compliance with Kenya’s tax laws and provide legal expertise in tax dispute resolutions.
    • Work with other tribunal members to deliver timely and just determinations.
    • Interpret and apply tax laws, rules, and regulations in resolving disputes.
    • Draft and review rulings and judgments related to tax matters.
  4. Member, Tax Appeals Tribunal (Non-Advocate) – Three (3) Posts
    • Contribute to the adjudication process by providing technical knowledge in taxation, accounting, economics, or finance.
    • Review and analyze tax appeal cases to ensure accurate and fair resolutions.
    • Assist in the interpretation of tax laws and policies in the adjudication process.
    • Collaborate with tribunal members to ensure transparency and effectiveness in tax dispute resolution.
    • Engage with stakeholders in the tax sector to enhance the tribunal’s efficiency.
  5. Director, Supply Chain Management, Judiciary – One (1) Post
    • Lead and oversee supply chain management functions within the Judiciary.
    • Develop and implement procurement policies and strategies in compliance with public procurement regulations.
    • Ensure effective and efficient management of resources through strategic sourcing and contract management.
    • Supervise procurement staff and provide guidance on best practices in supply chain management.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers to enhance service delivery.
    • Ensure transparency and accountability in procurement processes within the Judiciary.
    • Monitor and evaluate procurement activities to ensure compliance with national procurement laws and ethical standards.
