This Investment Analyst position is a three-year term contract, ideal for early-career professionals looking to gain meaningful experience before pursuing further education or additional professional advancement. Role Overview

The Investment Analyst will work in close collaboration with IFC’s Investment Officers, contributing to both new investment transactions and portfolio management activities. The analyst will play a critical role in evaluating investment proposals, assessing financial and operational performance, and supporting advisory engagements that unlock value and create long-term economic impact.

The primary sectors of focus include but are not limited to manufacturing, health services, education services, and various commercial service areas within the broader MAS portfolio.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for a broad range of tasks aligned with the preparation, execution, and monitoring of investment and advisory projects. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of the financial aspects of investment and advisory transactions, including conducting comprehensive market analysis to evaluate the financial viability of projects.
  • Conducting detailed financial statement analysis and employing analytical tools such as financial modeling, discounted cash flow (DCF), and comparable company analysis to support decision-making.
  • Performing industry research and market intelligence to inform investment strategies and identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Demonstrating high attention to detail through scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all analytical outputs.
  • Supporting the synthesis and analysis of debt pricing benchmarks and equity trading comparables to provide valuation insights.
  • Applying economic and market development frameworks to understand the broader impact of specific investments or advisory projects in different sectors.
  • Mapping sectoral conditions, identifying gaps in the market, and advising on business opportunities aligned with IFC’s development goals.
  • Assisting with the collection and verification of financial, operational, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data by liaising with clients and stakeholders to support due diligence processes.
  • Practicing active listening and effective communication to understand client needs and convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Preparing high-quality business documentation and presentations that communicate key findings, investment rationales, and strategic recommendations.
  • Using graphics and data visualization tools to present quantitative information in an accessible and engaging format.
  • Drawing insights from past investment or advisory projects and applying them to the structuring of new, straightforward transactions to mitigate risks and optimize returns.

Candidate Profile

IFC is seeking candidates with a strong foundation in finance and investment analysis, a demonstrated interest in development work, and a desire to grow professionally within a global organization.

Ideal candidates should possess the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Up to three years of relevant work experience in a financial institution or investment firm, preferably involving direct exposure to investment projects.
  • Proficiency in developing complex financial models and using valuation methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, particularly in areas of corporate finance, project finance, and market research.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
  • A proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a track record of producing high-quality, data-driven deliverables.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams.
